30 years of MEGST
“I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the Gospel from the first day until now.”
Philippians 1:3-5
We gathered on Friday the 17th of April, not just to mark a date on the calendar, but to celebrate three decades of lives transformed. While the heart of the work happens on the ground at MEGST, it was wonderful to see the community of supporters in New Zealand who have captured the vision to equip the next generation of leaders.
A Foundation of Faithfulness
Every great story has its pinoners, and MEGST’s history is defined by two remarkable leaders. They saw what was possible before it even existed. We took a moment to honour the giants whose shoulders MEGST stands on:
The vision of Rev Dr Ral Buai:
As the founding chairman, Dr Buai was the champion of the vision. From 1996 to 2016, his steady hand and relentless perseverance ensured that MEGST didn’t just survive its early years, but truly took root.
The Heart of Rev Dr Aung Mang:
The founding Principal was remembered not just for his academic leadership but also his character. Known for his ‘saintly’ and selfless approach, Dr Aung Mang established a culture of trust and humility that remains the college’s hallmark today.
Their legacy is more than just a memory; it is woven into every leader who has and is currently being trained.

Why This Partnership Matters
MEGST remains a unique beacon which is truly interdenominational and multiethnic. It is a place were character development is just as important as academic rigor. Even today the vision still remains of training humble servant leaders of integrity and excellence.
Whether you have been part of the journey since 1996 or have recently joined, thank you. You are partners in a mission to serve the gospel.
“MEGST is arguably the most influential evangelical leadership training agency in Myanmar! The Evangelical church in Myanmar is different – in many good ways – as a result of MEGST’s faithful adherence to the gospel, and its relentless perseverance and faithfulness to its founding vision and mission.”
