I Want To See!
Christian Leaders’ Training College (CLTC) in Papua New Guinea
In Melanesia, where less than half the pastors have received any formal training in Bible and ministry, CLTC is the premier interdenominational college, giving leaders from across PNG the opportunity to study the Word of God at a Masters level and develop their leadership capacity within their own context. The college was started 61 years ago and has trained thousands of pastors, missionaries, and Christian workers for the churches and communities of Melanesia.
Most students are only able to pay fees that cover less than a half of the cost of training, and the rest is covered by income from the College farm and donations. The College relies on outside donations for the capital development.
Student Sponsorships
A full fee is NZ$6,000 per student annually
In many countries the cost of a year of training is only a small fraction of what similar training would cost in a Western seminary (including living costs).
By doing so you would be sponsoring a future leader of the church in the Pacific!
Faculty Development (PhD Sponsorship)
Beacon Partnerships is currently supporting 1 CLTC faculty to pursue their PhD.
This allows for future higher-level studies to be completed in the region, and to build the writing capacity for Christian materials for church and training.
Student Accommodation
Up to NZ$25,000
Currently CLTC has about 250 students doing studies at one of the CLTC campuses, their highest enrolment level ever. Interest and demand for training at CLTC is high. The College is seeking to build more student houses, especially for married students and families to meet training opportunities and needs.
Myanmar Evangelical Graduate School of Theology (MEGST) in Myanmar
Beacon Partnerships has been partnering with MEGST since it began in 1996 with 13 students in a small apartment in Yangon and has been blessed to watch it develop. Despite uncertainties in the region, it has grown, with enrollment this year crossing a milestone of 200 students, and the seminary now offering up to Doctor of Ministry programme.
While churches in Myanmar try their best to support their future Christian leaders as they prepare for their ministry at MEGST, they are not able to cover the full costs of the study. Which is why they need the help of brothers and sisters elsewhere in the world.
