Choj* is from the minority Hmong tribe, but he grew up fully immersed in Thai culture, having grown up in a city in Thailand. He is one of the students seeking a student sponsorship for his studies from Chiang Mai Theological Seminary (CTS).
Raised in a poor Christian family, his father worked in Christian ministry and his mother as a seamstress. Their faith greatly influenced Choj, he relates that while his parents were poor, they had God, and because of Him they never lacked any good thing.
Even when their income grew over time, they continued to trust in God. For him, Choj says, God is everything.
He began serving in church while attending children’s church, progressing to the youth group and even pastoring in high school. The experience helped him to hear God’s voice and understand God’s heart for people better.
When his parents decided to retire and leave the city to minister at a small, abandoned church in a rural province, Choj joined them. Despite the financial struggles faced while working as a farmer, he leads the children and youth church and is dedicated to helping them grow closer to God and become committed Christians.
God has always exceeded his expectations, he says. He and his brother had the opportunity to take the church youth to visit the beach and Bangkok. This was something completely foreign to the youth group and seeing more of the world inspired the youth to take steps of faith that had never crossed their mind before.
Currently Choj is pursuing a Master’s degree in Christian Studies (M.C.S) with the purpose of deepening his understanding of God’s Word and relationship with God. Upon completing his studies, he aspires to expand the church and making disciples of Christ, who will, in turn, continue to advance His Kingdom and the growth of His church.
If Choj’s story touches your heart, we ask that you prayerfully consider sponsoring him or another student seeking student sponsorship.
