Scabies Crisis in Syrian Refugee Camps

There has been an outbreak of scabies and jaundice that our partner, associated with Langham Scholars, is now fighting in Syrian refugee camps in Lebanon.

Our contact, Esther* told me in her appeal: “Scabies, like jaundice as well, is highly contagious and can spread rapidly, posing a significant risk to the entire Syrian refugee camp population.”

Newly arrived families had unknowingly brought the diseases into the refugee camps. The lack of access to clean water and soap and overcrowded conditions made it difficult for them to manage the outbreak.

*name changed for security reasons.
